What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is a therapeutic method. Here’s a simple guide:

  1. Identify the Issue:
  • Pinpoint the specific emotion or issue you want to address. It could be stress, anxiety, pain, etc.
  1. Setup Statement:
  • Create a setup statement acknowledging the issue. For example: “Even though I feel [state the issue], I deeply and completely accept myself.”
  1. Tapping Points:
  • Tap gently with your fingertips on specific points (start with the karate chop point while repeating the setup statement, then move through points like eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, underarm, and top of the head).
  1. Repeat and Reframe:
  • As you tap each point, repeat a shortened version of the issue. For instance: “This stress” or “This pain.”
  1. Check-in:
  • After one round, take a deep breath and reassess your emotional or physical state.
  1. Repeat as Needed:
  • If necessary, repeat the process, adjusting your setup statement and focusing on any remaining discomfort.

Remember, EFT is a personal practice, and results may vary. It can be helpful to consult with a professional if dealing with deep-seated issues or trauma.

What are all the tapping points?

In EFT there are several key points on the body that are tapped with the fingertips. Here are the main tapping points:

  1. Karate Chop Point (KC):
  • The fleshy part on the outer edge of your hand, between the top of the wrist and the base of the pinky finger.
  1. Eyebrow (EB):
  • The beginning of the eyebrow, just above and to the side of the nose.
  1. Side of Eye (SE):
  • The bone on the side of the eye, about 1 inch from the outer corner.
  1. Under Eye (UE):
  • On the bone directly under the pupil.
  1. Under Nose (UN):
  • The area between the bottom of the nose and the upper lip.
  1. Chin (Ch):
  • The point is in the crease between the bottom lip and the chin.
  1. Collarbone (CB):
  • Just below the collarbone, where it meets the sternum. You can tap with several fingers or use a flat hand.
  1. Underarm (UA):
  • About 4 inches below the armpit.
  1. Top of Head (TH):
  • On the crown of the head.

When tapping, use gentle pressure with your fingertips, tapping each point about 5-7 times. The sequence usually starts at the karate chop point and then moves through the eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, underarm, and top of the head. Repeat the sequence as needed while focusing on the issue you’re addressing.
